Kabhi Nikal Jata Hoon Main Us Disha,
Jahan Baat Ruki Si Achhi Lagti Hai…
Khud Ka Sahara Banna Achha Lagta Hai,
Rishte, Rukawate Kuch Nahi,Bus Raaste Apne Lagte Hain!!!
“Are there canals like they are here ,in Bangalore also”, asked Thangachen innocently.I smiled and said no.
Thangachen was my companion for my excursion in the backwaters of remote Kerala.
Switching off one’s cell phone for almost 6 days and enjoying the rustic life- forgetting everything- gives one how much joy, I came to know during those days. Just spending time amidst beautiful nature, in between people , whose language one doesn’t understand and vice versa, gets one back to the real learning mode making !!
I left for Ernakulam from Chennai. My destination was Alleppey .Stayed there with Thangachen at his backwater village home for 4 days and explored Allapuzha like anything. Came to know from him about how dhoti is better than trouser/paint, because one can express his respect and anger through one .He also informed me about how to fish .After having my soul satiated, it was time to go to the Guruvayur and Kaladi temples near Trichur, which I visited with one of my musician friend Muraleedharan. It is said that some 4000 years back when Dwarika in Gujarat was slowly drowning, the idol of Lord Krishna was shifted and installed in Guruvayur Temple, so in a way this temple has the Lord Krishna’s original moorti. Kaladi is the Aadi Shankaracharya’s birth place. From Alleppey I left for Kottayam through a Ferri Boat for just 11 bucks .The way is full of beauty and is covered in 3 hours(24 kms). Some of the snaps can be found at the following location.
